What information well-nigh campaign and ethnicity in the United States has helped you go bad understand or relate to circumstantial minority groups?Â
In everything I learn in this class the thing that strikes me as the most interesting is the need for people to be assort together by their ethnicity. When learning about the different classifications of ethnicity I learned that everyone wants to have their own identity. For Hispanics they prefer to be accept by their sphither non their ethnicity. This is the same for Asian Americans as well. From experience I can say that this is also the example for many White Americans. What all of this taught me was to except everyone for who they are non what group they fall in.
Have you learned something new about your own cultural history?Â
I had a fundamental understanding of my culture but had never really researched my specific ethnic background. I am German and Irish. I had unendingly been somewhat mortified of being white. I have eer felt like I deserved to be inured like I am evil because of it. I did non realize that my culture was persecuted as well. Because of the information I learned in this class I researched my family.
The German side of my family did not arrive in America until 1905, and the Irish side of my family did not arrive until 1920. I realize from that that I should not be humiliated of my culture. I should just have more allowance for everyone else. I have always been tolerant but I now understand that many minorities feel more ashamed than I do and that is wrong. No one should be ashamed or made to feel ashamed of who they are.
