The Civil War was the worst war in American history. In the late 1800s nationalism was replaced by sectionalism, creating tension amongst the north and south. The south chip offd mostly because of slavery, the north wanted to stay fresh the join because it was unconstitutional. The North passed the 13th amendment giving African Americans more than rights. Slavery was a big reason of why the southwest seceded, the North disagreed with it and the south needed it.
The South wanted to secede from the Union for numerous reasons. The first reason was that Abraham capital of Nebraska was select and they were afraid he was going to get rid of slavery. The southern economy depended on slavery. They farmed cotton and they needed slaves to work on their farms. In Alabama 45% of people there were slaves. They believed that since they decided to join the United States that they should be able to cultivate their own decisions.




The North wanted to maintain the Union for many reasons. The first reason is they thought with the United States divided they would be vulnerable to attacks. The second reason was it was unconstitutional for the south to cave in the union. Slavery was a big economic factor in the South.
