Never Let Your Guard Down
On a wet and rainy tornado-filled Saturday afternoon, I almost sank my light truck. This day wasnt any regular day on the route, and it will surely be one I hatch for a very long time. Normally, on Saturdays, I moreover work in Adel, but on this day I had to run both post offices. By the time I got to Hahira it had already rained eight inches and the streets were flooded.  I have carried this route umpteen times before, and I acted as if I were in my cheer zone just going through the motions of the day. Once I got back on the route my next stop was first base Freewill Baptist Church, and in that mailbox is a label called a Managed Service Point (MSP Label.) This is a scan point which has to be scanned so upper management can keep up with our times while on the route. If the scan was missed I would have been written up; all MSP Labels must be scanned regardless of the conditions. The parking clutch of this church was flooded, and I wasnt about to walk through the water to scan the label.
So I made up my mind I would select through the flooded parking lot to scan this label. After serving this box I continued through the lot towards the exit.
