Scarlett Letter

The three hold ups were the main points of the Scarlet Letter. The first scaffold scene introduces all the main characters of the book. The first part of the scene is Hester climbing up the ladder, guardianship Pearl, the result of her sin. Explaining why Hester has the scarlet letter and what it means to receive the scarlet letter for the rest of her life.

When on the scaffold Hester sees Chillingworth, her husband, coming from England, gestures to Hester to not reveal his identity, then turns to a stranger in the crowd to ask about Hesters crime and punishment.
